Ms. Bharti Das is the 27th CGA of India (Controller General of Accounts)

As of today, Ms. Bharati Das is the new Controller General of Accounts (CGA). Ms. Das is the 27th Controller General of Accounts (CGA) for the Government of India’s Ministry of Finance.

With effect from October 18, 2021, the Indian government has nominated Ms. Bharati Das, an Indian Civil Accounts Service (ICAS) officer from the 1988 batch, as the Controller General of Accounts (CGA), Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.

Prior to that, Ms. Das held positions as Director of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Principal Chief Controller of Accounts (Pr. CCA) Central Board of Direct Taxes, Principal Chief Controller of Accounts (Pr. CCA) Ministry of External Affairs, Principal Chief Controller of Accounts (Pr. CCA) Ministry of Home Affairs, Principal Chief Controller of Accounts.

Controller General of Accounts

The Union Government considers the Controller General of Accounts (CGA) to be “the Principal Advisor” on accounting concerns. The CGA is in charge of creating and maintaining a technically sound management accounting system as well as preparing and submitting the Union Government’s accounts. For the central government, CGA is also in charge of exchequer control and internal audits.
